Welcome to the WA Model Aircraft State Centre

trading as WA Model Aircraft Sports Centre (Inc.)

Our aims are to operate the best model aircraft facility in Australia, and to encourage and assist others to participate in our hobby for maximum enjoyment and safety.

WAMASC is a purpose-built facility developed, over the years, to cater for all forms of aeromodelling with specific areas being allotted to control line, fixed wing, and rotary wing aircraft.

The control line areas feature both a bituminized and concreted outer circular strip’s for team racing and displays with a grassed circular area for general and stunt flying.

The fixed wing and helicopter (rotary wing) areas feature covered pits, bitumen runways, and a large grassed area assigned to specific helicopter training and flight.

Public Spectators are always welcome and encouraged to visit our field to enjoy all we have to offer. Should one of our resident Instructors be available you may be given the chance to have some hands on experience with an introductory flight using a ‘Buddy-Box’ transmitter.

We have a large shaded spectator area with seating available and a play area, complete with a cubby house, for children. Our canteen facilities are open most flying days, providing cold beverages, ice-creams, and other assorted snacks.

Members are more than happy to answer any questions that you may have regarding our hobby and you are asked to please feel free to approach them with any questions.

Visitors

Visitors who have no MAAA (Model Aeronautical Association of Australia) affiliation will be allowed two (2) free flights at the field and then must join WAMASC to continue flying at the field. Visiting MAAA metropolitan members will be allowed three (3) free flights per year' and must pay the WAMASC membership for any further use at the facility. All visitors must be signed in as a guest by a resident club member for insurance purposes.

When

Should you wish to visit the field flying takes place seven days a week. Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest, but most days have some activity, weather permitting.

Model flying is permitted from 08:00am until dusk. Please be aware that the field may be closed by Whiteman Park management on days when the FDI (Fire Danger Index) equals or exceeds 40. It is suggested that during the summer months that the daily FDI is checked as it may be hazardous to fly and no one will be in attendance. This happens quite regularly in summer hence it is prudent to check the FDI for the Lower West Coast, and Perth Weather Forecast before planning a trip to avoid a wasted journey.

WAMASC provides ample ACROD parking and has sufficient area to accommodate approximately 250 vehicles.
